How every NEP book is built on NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023

Alignment is a claim every publisher makes. This page shows the working — the structure we follow, the outcomes we tag, and the editorial process that keeps a chapter honest to the framework.

The shift

From syllabus coverage to demonstrated competency

NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023 ask a different question of a textbook. Not “did we cover the topic?” but “can the child now do something they could not do before?”

That reframing changes everything downstream — how a chapter opens, how much scaffolding sits between concept and practice, what an exercise is actually testing, and how a teacher knows whether to move on. We rebuilt our editorial process around it rather than adding a competency label to existing content.

Education must build character, enable learners to be ethical, rational, compassionate and caring, while at the same time prepare them for gainful, fulfilling employment. — National Education Policy 2020, Principles

What we hold ourselves to, chapter by chapter

Each of these is checked at manuscript review. A chapter does not go to design until every box is genuinely ticked.

Foundational Literacy & Numeracy

Pre-Primary to Class 3 titles are built to NIPUN Bharat targets — decodable text progressions, oral language routines and concrete-first numeracy with explicit fluency milestones.

Experiential & Art-Integrated Learning

Every unit carries at least one hands-on investigation and one art- or sport-integrated task, using materials a school in a small town can actually source.

Indian Knowledge Systems

Vedic mathematics techniques, traditional metallurgy, Ayurvedic botany, classical grammar and regional craft appear as content that teaches — never as a decorative sidebar.

Multilingualism

Bilingual glossaries in every Science, Mathematics and Social Science title, with key terminology in Hindi and English so home language is a bridge, not a barrier.

Competency-Based Assessment

Case-based, source-based and assertion–reason items in every unit, weighted to reflect current Board patterns and mapped to specific NCF learning outcomes.

21st Century & Vocational Skills

Coding from Class 3, Artificial Intelligence modules from Class 6, and vocational exposure activities aligned to NEP targets for every learner by Class 8.

Editorial process

Five gates before a chapter reaches a child

Alignment is not a checklist applied at the end. It is enforced at five separate points, each with a different reviewer and a documented sign-off.

  1. Outcome mapping

Before writing begins, each chapter is tagged to specific NCF-SE learning outcomes and the competencies a learner must demonstrate. This tag sheet governs everything that follows.

  2. Subject-expert authorship

Written by practising teachers and subject specialists with classroom experience at that exact stage — not by generalist writers working from an old edition.

  3. Pedagogical review

An independent reviewer checks concept sequencing, cognitive load, scaffolding density and whether the activities genuinely carry the concept rather than illustrate it.

  4. Assessment audit

Every question is classified by Bloom level and mapped back to the outcome sheet. Units skewed toward recall are returned for rebalancing.

  5. Classroom pilot

Selected chapters are taught in partner schools before print. Teacher and learner feedback drives revisions — and sometimes a full rewrite.

Common questions

What schools ask us about alignment

Both. NCF-SE 2023 is the framework CBSE derives its syllabus from, so alignment to NCF and compliance with the current CBSE syllabus are complementary rather than competing. Our Classes 9–12 titles follow the published CBSE syllabus chapter-for-chapter, including subject codes for skill subjects such as IT (402) and Artificial Intelligence (417). Titles for other boards and state curricula are available on request.

Where NCERT sequencing is pedagogically sound — which is most of the time — yes, so a school running NCERT alongside NEP has no friction. Where our classroom pilots showed a sequencing problem, we deviate and say so explicitly in the teacher manual, with the reasoning. We never deviate silently.

Every teacher manual includes HPC-ready observation schedules, self- and peer-assessment templates and descriptor banks written in plain language for the parent-facing sections. These are downloadable and editable, so schools can adapt them to their own reporting cycle.

We revise annually. When CBSE or NCERT issues a syllabus circular mid-session, we publish a free supplementary PDF within three weeks and push it to the QR codes already printed in the book — so a school never has to re-purchase because of a policy update.

Yes. Chapter-to-outcome mapping sheets are available to any school evaluating our titles — request them alongside your specimen copies and we will send the full set for the classes you are considering.
